Grade Visibility in Canvas

Canvas has 2 grade posting policy types:

Automatic - All assignment grades are visible to students as soon as they are entered in the Gradebook.
Manual - all assignment grades remain hidden from student view by default until you post grades for each assignment.

Note: By default, all AAP courses are set to a manual grade posting policy.

The MANUAL tag in your Gradebook indicates that an assignment is set to a manual posting policy.

Once a grade is entered for an assignment with a manual grade policy, the visibility icon will appear next to the

assignment. This indicates the grade is hidden from students.

To display the grade, select the options icon (three dots) and click Post Grades.
