Submitting and Accessing Peer Reviews

Your instructor may require you to submit a peer review of another student's assignment. To complete the assignment, you must review the student's assignment and add a comment in the comment sidebar.

Peer Review Instructions

Step 1: Open Peer Review

Access your assigned peer review from the Assignment page. You will find your peer review on the right-hand side of the page below Submission, under the title Assigned Peer Reviews. Click on the link to access the submission you will review. 

Step 2: View Submission

You can view the submnitted assignment and provide specific feedback on the document one of two ways:

  • Option 1: Feedback directly on document using file download - Download the assignment by clicking the name of the file. Add your feedback to the file and save.
  • Option 2: Feedback directly on document using DocViewer - Use the annotated feedback tools in Canvas (if supported by the assignment). Click the View Feedback link and add comments to the submission directly using the Canvas DocViewer.Links to an external site.
     


Step 3: Submit Comments

To complete your review, you must leave a comment in the add a comment box. Use this space for overall assignment feedback. You can enter text in the text box or provide video or audio feedback using the Media Comment button.
Note: If you provided feedback using option 1 above, attach your edited file by clicking the Attach File button below the comment box. Then click Save. 

You will see a confirmation at the top of the screen that you have successfully completed the peer review and your comments and file attachments will appear on the right-hand side of the screen. 


Step Four: View Peer Review Comments for Your Submission

You can review the Peer Review comments for your own submission by clicking on the assignment and then clicking Submission Details. Feedback will appear on the right-hand side of the screen.
