Name Coach Recording Tool - Student Guide

Johns Hopkins University provides a tool that allows you to record your name, your instructors will have access to this recording to learn your preferred name. 


Instructions

  1. Log in to Canvas and access NameCoach from your Account/Profile. Click on Account just below the Johns Hopkins logo and select NameCoach Recorder from the menu. 

  2. In order to access the recording button you will need to grant authorization by clicking Record Name

  3. Choose Phone to receive an automated NameCoach call in which to record your name. Enter your number, then click Submit and Call Me to receive a callback. You will have twenty-five seconds to record your name. 

  4. Choose Web Recorder to use the microphone on your device. Click Record and follow the Ready/Set/Record prompts. You will have twenty-five seconds to record your name. 

  5. If you prefer to upload a file, the recording must be in MP3 or WAV and less than 1 MB. 

  6. To view your recordings, click on the first tab: Recorded Names and you will see a list of fellow students who made recordings. Click on the Name Pronunciation column to hear the recording.
